Locked my Keys in the House

There are times in my life that I wish that I wasn’t forgetful, but I have been that way since I was born.  In some respects, it was like I lost the genetic lottery, but it also means that sometimes life is a little more challenging than I would like.

Let me share an example.

Yesterday I was doing some chores out in the yard like I do most Tuesdays.  I typically leave the front door of the house locked while I am out working in the backyard to make sure that no one breaks in while I am not paying attention.  On days like these I leave the patio door unlocked, but for whatever reason I didn’t do that at all.  When I reached into my pocket, I realized that I made a huge mistake.

My keys were in the house.

Instead of doing the smart thing and calling a locksmith I decided to break the kitchen window instead.  In hindsight, that wasn’t the smartest thing for me to do, but in the end I did end up getting back into the house.

But I had a window to replace.

Thankfully, I live just down the street from an outfit that does windows replacement in Los Angeles and I was able to get them to set me up with a new window today.  The house is all better now, but hopefully I have learned my lesson – next time I’ll make sure I have my keys before locking the house.

Pampering Myself Today

All work and no play makes me a dull girl.  Seriously, I need to take a break once in awhile for myself to rest, relax and recuperate from my job.  It is stressful at times and since I deal with the public, it is important to make sure that I am calm and collected in case there are any customer service issues.  This means that taking a break is more important for me, and it has been too long since the last time I was pampered.

That is all changing today.

In fact, I will be heading down to my favorite nail technician and esthetician at our local spa here in town to get my nails done, get a massage and maybe a pedicure as well.  We’ll see how it goes, but I think that I should have time for all three.

Wait a minute… I’ll just make the time, right?

While this will take some time out of my day today, at least I will feel fresh and refreshed for the morning – we have a pretty serious client meeting that I need to be on my best behavior for if I hope to get a Christmas bonus this year.

Have a wonderful day – I better head off to the spa so I don’t miss my appointment.

Taking a New Job in Malibu

While I had grand plans to travel around the states here on my year off from college, money was a bit of a problem.

I didn’t have any.

While many people wouldn’t let this slow them down, I decided that I should make a “mature” decision and choose to take the more responsible route and find a job.

So that is what I did.

Instead of trying to find a place near where I lived, I decided to work somewhere that I had always wanted to travel: Malibu.

In fact, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be to find a job.  I didn’t exactly know what I wanted to do, so I applied for just about every job listing I could find.  After a few emails and a few phone calls, I found myself on an airplane with the opportunity to work in mold remediation Malibu.

A job that I have no experience for.

But that is okay as they offer “on the job” training.  Thankfully it sounds like it is in a field that never really experiences slowdowns thanks to the fact that there are always mold problems to be fixed.

I’m hoping that I do well at my new job – wish me luck!
